Providing videos on YouTube can be done in so many ways. However, if you want to really be able to edit video where images and text are added in to help explain things, you need a good computer that can run video editing software.

That is no easy task – it takes a reasonable amount of computer power to edit and compile video.

We had that with our laptop – and then it died.

It was a slow and painful death lasting several months. The first symptoms were fairly insignificant, but as time drew near it began to crash, crash and crash again. We re-installed the operating system, which seemed to help for two weeks – then it crashed, crashed and crashed again.

Finally on one otherwise beautiful sunny day, it would not boot up.

This leaves us with a choice to make. There were certainly several options to consider, but generally speaking; we could either step back and make unedited cellphone videos, or not make videos at all – because we could not afford a new computer and did not have any idea when we would be able to.

We mentioned this on Facebook and Google+, where a few loyal viewers mentioned that they would like to help – something I honestly did not want to ask for.

Yet, I was swayed, and we have started up a fundraising campaign for the purchase of a new computer that would allow us to edit and compile video.

In just 24 hours we had raised 45% of our goal. That is amazing and humbling, but we still have a good way to go.

If you are so inclined, we would like to ask you to help us with this effort, so that we can bring back our video programming to you. We know that this is something that some will feel we should not ask for, but we respect that and hold no resentment for anybody who chooses not to help. We fully understand.

However, if you do wish to help, come over to YouCaring.com/jandjacres and make a donation. We chose YouCaring.com because they do not take any money for running the fundraiser. Many other sites charge a “fee”, typically a % of the funds raised, for hosting the fundraiser. YouCaring does not. YouCaring uses PayPal for your donations, which can be from any major credit card, your bank or your own PayPal account.

If you would rather, you can make donations through PayPal directly  to the email address jared@jandjacres.net.

We appreciate you consideration in the matter. We very much enjoy creating videos for you and hope we can get back to it soon. In the meantime we are still filming, and there are a lot of great projects to share – we just need the computer to be able to compile the video.

Thank you,

Jared & Jennifer Stanley
